arno:

Here's a foolproof line I used on a highway patrol
officer on a trip to Vegas back in my college days
when I was driving an old clunker.

All the other cars were whipping past me, but he decided to stop me.

I asked how fast he thought I was going.

He said 58mph. (The limit was 55 at the time)

I looked him straight in the eye and said
Officer, you must be wrong, this car doesn't GO
58 mph.

He then asked if I belonged to the Triple A and suggested
that I have my speedometer calibrated.

I batted my eyelashes, said, "Yes, officer, I'll do that,"
and he let me off with a warning.

Must have been a slow day<g>
