lab,

"retail investors may be selling out to a fund ..."

Overall you may be right, however the market maker NTBC has over the last 3 months represented some clients with some "size" to sell. Whenever VARL was stuck in the 9 or 10 range it was usually due to NTBC offering 20,000 to 50,000 shares for sale. Today I personally saw them handle one 20,000 share sale at 14 1/8 (NTBC really sold it at 14 1/4 but they have to make a living) & another 15,000 share sale (I forgot where).

Sherwood has been buying up some stock lately, not sure if this is just position related or work for a client (fund). Anyway once NTBC (some insider or fund or investor) is finished selling their blocks we will move higher.
