GVTucker,>>> Earnings are also much less easily manipulated. If you're a long term investor in INTC, you've either got to learn to live with that or sell the stock.<<<

Bunk. Every company has quarter-end or year-end strategies they can employ to smooth out, at the margins, reporting of earnings. Normally, when a company misses earnings it implies something has gone off plan. Stocks usually take a dive for good reason.

Not so with Intel. In this regard, Intel has a screwy culture and you can't tell what they are trying to tell us. They give out mixed messages even when things are going well. Current situation with inventory is a case in point. What is it are they trying to tell us? Is there something they are trying to hide?

I don't think so. I think business is terrific. They have the usual production problems associated with rolling out complex new products. The only reason that I think this way is because I try to read and understand everything that Engel, Viola, Fowler, Amy, Harry, McMannis and a lot of the others on this thread who share information with us.

I could never get it just from reading Intel press releases and what they have to say at secret breakfast meetings.

GVTucker. Re: "Finally, you are correct to a certain extent that INTC seems to have a harsher reaction sometimes to negative analyst statements." Thank you.

Re: "Right or wrong, Wall Street like predictable earnings." I agree. Also, I wonder if GE or MSFT had a Jerry Sanders tearing up the pea patch they would look so smart. As a mostly one product company Intel is more vulnerable to a kamikaze competitor.

If you're a long term investor in INTC, you've either got to learn to live with that or sell the stock." Totally agree. The upside for long-term investors is that Intel is less overvalued than most other world class companies.
