Intel struggling to meet PC chip demand - WSJ

NEW YORK, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Chip maker Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) said it was struggling to meet demand for its Pentium III microprocessors and is unable to meet orders from its personal computer manufacturing customers, the Wall Street Journal reported in Wednesday's edition.

Intel executives weren't immediately available for comment.

''We're tight supplies across our product line, including the new Pentium III's, the Pentium III's that have been out for some time, mobile product lines and even Pentium II's.'' the newspaper quoted an Intel spokesman as saying.

He added that Intel was not experiencing any technical difficulties and said the recent earthquake in Taiwan ''was not a factor in its shipments for microprocessors.''

The company is meeting commitments for specific new products, but is not able to take additional orders from new or exisitng customers, the Journal reported.
