"Exciting Ad Spin-Off?

Just what will be the fate of Excite@Home's advertising units? Many company watchers expect Excite@Home to break out the operations of its MatchLogic and Enliven business units into a separate company. The idea is that the advertising pieces could be cobbled together and spun out as a public company with its own stock currency that could be used to acquire independent online ad firms. The strategy would put MatchLogic and Enliven at the core of a third major competitor in the online ad industry, which seemingly will be dominated by DoubleClick and CMGI. Excite@Home officials were mum about their prospects in the advertising space, but it is interesting to note that the company is quietly taking steps to merge the day-to-day operations of MatchLogic and Enliven."*

FNS, My buy signal came when it based and resisted selling into "tax loss" season... that was my primary concern. Now that I have bought, I see no reason to sell into the pessimistic pall that is hanging over this stock. It occurs to me that if I become obsessed with the montage of trend lines, I risk the true potential of this investment.

Of course, there will come a time when I will sell into a violation of trend support, but in the absence of brutally negative news, that time is a long ways off. This stock has taken several "round-house" punches, and it is still standing.

Good Luck
Mike
