TD, When I first believed, I became involved with a small group that had the answers. Everyone else was wrong. I remember they quoted the scripture in John which said "These were written that you might believe". They took that to mean one had to read the book of John in order to be saved. In fact, they even said the disciples were handing out this book as soon as John had written it, making copies because there was no other way people would get saved.

I thought to myself, this is crazy. I know I am saved and I know I didn't get saved by first reading John.

Brian reminds me a little of the same thing. Anyone can take scripture and apply it to their preconceived views. I'm no exception and so I try to keep an open mind. I'm open to what Brian says, but I mostly reject it because it goes against the very nature of God. I said before, there are many "ifs" in the bible. "If" we seek we will find...It is a give and take. The "if" represents a choice for each of us to make. God bless.

to truedog:
from C Kahn:

Truedog, the Lord does work in mysterious ways!

monu, I have to give him that. He's got me reading scriptures more carefully than ever before.

We know that all things work together for good for those who love the Lord, and are called according to His purpose.

I am learning much more to bolster my own Faith.

Who knows? Maybe the Lord is teaching Brian something here. I have my own ideas. But I won't try to second-guess God.
