I suppose my question should have been reserved for a PM.. I apologize (also in public) for not doing it that way. I am honestly curious, and if the answer to my question was what the other person put forth, that is quite acceptable to me. You ask if I have an opinion on this stock... I do. And it is actually much along the lines of what you seem to believe. I think it is interesting technology. I am an audio engineer, and think mp3 and it's progeny will certainly take a place in the future (and present) of music delivery systems along side new non-lossy formats (DVD audio?). I also figure it will take the 16 bit compact disc a little longer to die than many folks in this realm of speculation seem to think. Also, in my opinion, it is going to be more difficult for the industry to enforce a copy protection scheme on lossy digital audio than it may seem. As to EDIG specifically: If it wasn't for the Lucent/TXI connection, I would give the company little hope whatsoever of being any sort of player in this market. Success really depends entirely on two things: 1. Lucent and TXI continue to use EDIG technology. 2. Lucent and TXI gain some foothold in the battle of the gizmos. I have never been convinced that EDIG's Micro OS is really all that groundbreaking as companies that make stuff like cellular phones and palm computers seem to be getting along just fine without it. I feel that any technology giant worth a poop oughta be able to come up with a memory management system that would work just as well, and be as scalable even without encroaching on EDIG's patents. Obviously they already have, or I wouldnt be able to store a phone number in my cell phone. As to scalability, there are several OS solutions that could do as good a job with little work... JAVA is a good example. So, in conclusion, the only way I think EDIG can be any more than the boutique player it already is - is if the big dogs that seem to like the technology can actually pull off using it. So, in the end I am as skeptical as you are. I was simply throwing a little dart at you to see if I could find out what makes you tick. You effectively dodged it, so I still wonder. Of course I dont want to make this SI thread look like the one in RB... ;) But I refuse to be entirely impersonal. These forums are, in the end, about communication, and personality as much as pure information. Ask any pump and dump artist. regards, cAPSLOCK
