The routes acquired in this transaction support Intermedia's plan to deploy a nationwide OC-48 Internet Protocol (IP) optical fiber network. A large component of the routes Williams Communications is providing consist of Williams Communications' Optical Wave Service. Williams Communications is the industry leader in offering the leasing of individual 2.5 Gbps OC-48 wavelengths that provide a transparent interface with a carrier's network. The balance of the capacity under the agreement will be traditional OC-48 private lines. The routes included in this agreement are: Chicago-Dallas; Chicago-New York; Dallas-Los Angeles; Dallas-Atlanta; Dallas-Washington, D.C.; Atlanta-Washington D.C.; Los Angeles-San Francisco; Chicago-San Francisco; Chicago-Washington, D.C.; Dallas-San Francisco and Washington, D.C.-San Francisco.
