Not to beat a dead horse, but, Programmers (mainframe, client server, etc.) make from 50K to 150K+ depending (including benefits). Second you must include wage base, health benefit, Disability, FICA, Medicare, Bonus, etc.

I've been told by people in the benefits and accounting business, that, as a rule of thumb, take the salary and multiply by 3 to approximate total cost for any employee.

IHMO, the company needs to have enough cash to cover 3 months of expenses(excluding revenue), at a minimum. Reserves are needed for unexpected system outages, legal matters, etc. On a personal level almost all financial planners tell you that you should have at least 3 months of income in case of emergencies, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the same would go for a billion dollar company

I agree with you... When I read your original post, it sounded like in 6 weeks they would not have any money and could not meet payroll (which had me worried!) But, unless there is some unexpected event they can continue for a long time since they are close to break even...

Another 100 million of padding is a good thing too....
