Thanks, it's much clearer now. I trust the duration is also up to each company to pick and choose as they see fit.

It would seem to me that the outcome that these companies are attempting to avoid becomes much more likely during this "quiet period".

A quiet period prior to earnings is imposed by some companies voluntarily under the
theory that this helps to prevent selective disclosure, and, to a lesser extent, leaks.
