Logica Provides Satellite Customer Care and Billing Solution for Globalstar in Brazil Multi-million dollar solution for customer care and billing services to millions of potential subscribers worldwide LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 1999-- Logica today announced a contract for over $4.5 million dollars to provide an integrated customer care and billing solution for Globalstar do Brasil, the local provider of Globalstar satellite telephony services in Brazil. Logica's solution will provide a vital customer service link for the company's new global communications service. This agreement continues Logica's long standing relationship with Globalstar. Logica has already contracted to implement similar customer care and billing integration services for other Globalstar consortium members in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. The agreement will enable Globalstar to activate and bill its Brazilian customer base for global mobile and fixed telecommunications services that will connect them throughout the world via Globalstar's satellite and gateway infrastructure. Globalstar's constellation of 48 low-earth-orbiting (LEO) satellites will transmit calls from a wireless phone or a fixed phone station to a terrestrial gateway, where they are passed on to existing fixed and cellular telephone networks in more than 100 countries on 6 continents. ``We knew that Logica's experience and proven track record of delivery in customer care and billing would give us an enormous advantage in delivering our services to market quickly,' said Andres Castro, Globalstar's regional director for Latin America. ``We are confident that we are teaming with the right partner on this exciting venture.' Logica's customer care and billing solution is comprised of BSCS (Business Support & Control System), a billing product provided by its partner LHS Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: LHSG - news), and Comptel's (Oy Comptel Ab) MDS/SAS mediation device. Logica will act as the master systems integrator, managing all partners and products involved in the project. The core component systems will be developed, tested, and deployed from the company's San Francisco Solutions Center. Logica's Solutions Center provides clients with state-of-the-art information technology solutions, offering a showcase for best-of-breed products and partners, and allowing for the rapid development, deployment, and support of new applications. ``We are delighted to have the opportunity to build on our long standing relationship with Globalstar by leveraging our partner relationships and experience for Globalstar do Brasil, as they prepare for an enterprise of this magnitude,' said Mike Trocki, Executive Vice President, Telecommunications of Logica in North America. ``Globalstar is opening up voice and data communications to literally millions of new customers. This is truly a unprecedented undertaking and represents a unique opportunity for both companies.'
