John,

MM has been here for over a year. I appreciate V's posts very much but he has been here a couple months I believe. We have had an influx of so many new folks that the new posters who bought at 200, haven't a clue that they are talking to someone who bought at 20 2 years ago.

My concern is selfish. The long term posters here have helped me enormously the last 8 months. They are leaving due to influx of new people. MM is one the longest members here. It will not be good if he leaves for any reason. He understands Q very well and isn't a momentum guy.

Our alternative is to go to Yahoo or the Ramsey Su thread(Yuck!). Not great choices.

JohnG, I'm just wading through what Voltaire hopes will become the best thread on SI. Gregory earlier this year arrived and pointed out that the best thread on SI, this one, [not a claim I've ever subscribed to because I haven't a clue] would go to hell in a handbasket with the arrival of the momo mob which would surely follow him. So it did.

Some people even got hot under the collar when asked not to turn Ramsey's new thread into a repeat, which is surprising since there is plenty of space here in the next 50,000 posts to tell people what's wrong with their pedigree, what call options are going to do on Tuesday etc without putting graffiti everywhere else.

I'm a fan of the theory that of 500 chimps [about how many are on this thread at one time incidentally] one would make correct stochastic variable analysis head and shoulders formation guesses about 10 times in a row and be considered, and consider themselves, a kind of genius.

A few more guesses and a mistake or three come along and the genius chimp joins the crowd of people who really have no idea what's going to happen next. That's all of us. The quantum computing neural net algorithms are the ones which are best at this stuff now and they are arguing with each other like Deep Blue playing not Kasparov, but Deep Green.

Qualcomm must be one of the stocks [value and liquidity] which they are dabbling in. Good luck betting against them on the short term moves. Funny how AG raises interest rates and stocks zoom up [Limtex - you can't blame Green$pan for that surely].

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying a perverse pleasure in seeing Qualcomm well down [from 40 down to 33 at the low today - the extra zero is confusing so I'll leave it off]. That's only a gradual drop compared with the gap down from 40 to 30 in 1996. I'm happy to see it down because now I don't have to wonder whether it's time to sell just yet.
