Tero: your comment
In any case, the resiliency of this stock is mind-blowing. If you had asked people on this board last summer what would happen to GSTRF if the launch slithers to February and the ad campaign kicks off without service in place, the prognosis would have been bad. In reality, Globalstar is doing a note-perfect imitation of the Iridium launch... yet the stock is only a couple of bucks down from the recent August high. The strength is amazing.
Either the markets really *are* omniscient and can predict the satellite market growth even when no solid data
seems to exist. Or this is a symptom of a bull market on a final, unhinged rampage.

Or have all the infidels been vanquished and all that is left are the fanatics?

Having a wonderful time spreading the word of Bernie...

TMI Communications Gets Green Light to Become America's Newest Mobile Satellite Communications Provider

FCC Decision Means a New Choice for US Mobile Communications Users

OTTAWA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 1999--A decision yesterday by the Federal Communications Commission gives American businesses an attractive new option for secure, digital, satellite-delivered mobile communications. The FCC gave TMI Communications the green light to provide service in all 50 states via the powerful MSAT-1 satellite, which has a coverage area of North and Central America, as well as the Caribbean and up to 250 miles offshore.

"TMI's goal is to be the leading provider of mobile satellite communications in the Americas," said Larry Boisvert, president and CEO of TMI. "Our ability to provide digital wireless communications anywhere on land, at sea or in the air makes TMI a powerful ally for any organization with a mobile workforce or remote communications needs."

TMI: Tried, tested & ready

Since 1996, TMI has served customers in Canada, the Caribbean and Central America, and it has extensively tested and readied its services for US deployment. The company delivers packet and circuit-switched data communications, voice, facsimile, e-mail, file transfer, Internet access, digital broadcast dispatch, mobile messaging and position-reporting services, and is a respected provider of consulting services on billing and ground systems. TMI will add new applications to its growing portfolio early next year.

TMI's satellite-delivered mobile communications solutions are ideally suited to the unique needs of the maritime, mining, government, transportation, utility and petroleum industries.

An excellent option for Y2K contingency communications

In addition to its ability to provide "anywhere, anytime" communications, TMI offers an excellent option for organizations that need contingency communications in the Y2K context. Across the Americas, many business managers are concerned about critical data having to pass through hundreds of CPUs, and are attracted by the idea of using a single, secure satellite hop. TMI completed its Y2K readiness renovation program on May 9th 1999.

About TMI Communications

TMI is North America's leading developer and supplier of mobile data communications solutions, and offers a full portfolio of wireless digital data, voice, fax and dispatch radio services. Headquartered in Ottawa, TMI is a member of the BCE Media group and is a wholly owned subsidiary of BCE Inc., one of the world's premier telecommunications companies.

Tero -

I hate to agree with you, but your comments about the stumbled launch hold merit.

Curious though, you mention how "mind boggling" it is that the stock is where it is at. Are you short GSTRF? My guess would be that you are not, and if you are not taking a short position on a stock that is holding a "mind boggling" level, then doesn't that help explain to you why it is holding?

I agree that we are off to a similar launch as IRID, the only exception being the quality of the system reports which do trickle in. With IRIDIUM, the reports were mixed to negative, Globalstar is all positive. There is a lot of frustration however with getting handsets. I was promised one on Nov 15th, then put off to 1st week of December (to be part of the Friendly Launch in US). I know of three other people trying to buy them as well (all boaters).

The stock will probably maintain this level, even inch up in anticipation of hard launches and news because people believe there is a market for this service. When and if they are proven wrong (ie - 200,000 handsets on the shelf that won't sell), then we would clearly follow the path of Iridium. When we are proven correct, the stock will jump. Even the non-believers (such as yourself) are not willing to take the risk that they might be wrong, and that is what keeps the stock in the range that it is.

Good luck to all!
