More reports of unreliable Athlon 700 systems:

zdnet.com

"What's up with non-AMD Athlon motherboards? We've got a fresh 700-MHz AMD Athlon system in house, and it can't seem to finish Winstone 99, our benchmarking test. Sound familiar? You might have caught Loyd Case's article on Gamespot, 700-MHz Shoot-Out: Intel Comes Out Swinging. The only system he could get to run Computer Gaming World's suite of benchmarks was a reference system from AMD.

But the simple fact that we can't get a clean run of Winstone 99 on a shipping 700-MHz Athlon system (whose manufacturer shall remain nameless for the moment) is frustrating"

Not good news for AMD.
