Villains and Heroes..

As this saga has come to an end, time to note who are the villains and who are the heroes. First the villains:

#1. Jerry Pearlman (Zenith CEO in 1995) for selling out to LGE and picking up $4 million in the process.

#2. The collective, managerial trash at Zenith. All losers.

#3. The director troika of Willmott, McNally and Brooker. All benefited from insider dealings and assured the demise of Zenith.

#4. Bob Boldt of CalPERS. Sold out the shareholders to recover the lost $12 million and never once addressed the corporate governance issues which CalPERS claims to champion.

#5. The Equity Committee. Concerned more about lining their own pockets than representing the interests of all shareholders.

#6. The Bondholder Committee. Villains who were part of the deception from day one. They were tipped to short Zenith stock and buy the bonds.

7. The SEC and DOJ who did nothing to stop the rape of Zenith and antitrust actions of LGE.

8. Judge Walrath. She disallowed PJS to be "experts" in their court testimony but allowed the PJS testimony to sway her judgement.

The heroes are few. They include:

* Chris Delgado a designer at Zenith who was fired for wanting to turn the company around by producing great products and was unafraid of communicating his concerns re Zenith's mismanagement with outsiders.

* The hundreds of great Zenith engineers who developed hundreds of valuable patents now owned by LGE.

* The employees at the Melrose plant who delivered top quality picture tubes and PC monitors but were sandbagged by LGE and Zenith insiders.

Notice that I did not include LGE as either heroes or villains. They were merely intruders who were wise enough to take advantage of the greed and stupidity of the villains listed above.

It's been a very challenging last two years. We gave it our best shot and came up short. Time to move on. Been a very interesting ride......

OK UTNE, no need to read this because it won't do you any good or do any more *namecalling* since I won't be back to read it. You're either mighty, mighty stupid or a traitor and in either case aren't worth my time. However, for the record I point out the following:

(1) I spoke out a long time back about the reality of doing business with the far east and about how devilishly clever the Koreans are. For my opinion this Dondo character blasted me, so I left the discussion. Learning how devilish they may be is something one learns from life and not from some book. Since this thread had know-it-alls instead of cooperation, I left until I saw something mighty mighty suspicious. I spoke up because I am entitled to express my opinion. The way Utne flew off the handle at me (rather than the real opposition) confirmed my suspicion. What one needs to respond to foreign encroachment on our technology is working together, not some two-bit prima donna.

(2) So I see where some nobody (in the real world of smart business) corners the market on suspicious activity at Zenith, takes control of "opposition", and then on a reorganization ruling suddenly rolls over. Where there are GigaBucks involved suspicion should exist and be welcomed everywhere at all levels. Utne should reserve his namecalling for those who deserve it, and if he had any backbone he would act like a gentleman. For you who don't know it, lots of Americans get paid off and I have seen it up close. This doesn't mean that Utne has been playing ball from the very beginning, but I have seen where this happens and it irks me that Americans are so easily duped. Maybe Utne is just dumb.

(3) Business is not done in the real world with simple-minded integrity. Winning depends on being smart and tough. You don't win by being a quitter.

(4) The Koreans outsmart people and have others in their hire, and I assert that they shall continue to be successful as long as little investors prefer epithets over intelligent discussion.
