Hi kash johal & al; CNBC is about to talk about chip shortages. Is this the first time today for them?

From MSNBC. Sorry if posted already.

msnbc.com

It seams INTC already accepts that AMD will be the first to introduce 1GHZ processor. And INTC will try to catch up. It still sounds strange to me. But I think I need to get used to it from now on.

<The amazing thing here is that Intel bumbled and fumbled their 0.18 launch and speedstep so badly that AMD will likely introduce Gemini before speedstep really shows up.>

Yes, it would be quite a coup if AMD can get Gemini in Q1. Intel had almost a year paper-lead on this one until they started messing up on CuMine execution.

Inspite of my earlier doubts on the K6-2+, now I think AMD is well set for low-end laptops for H1 '00. In H2 '00, once mobile Athlon kicks in that would be a new game with AMD being potentially ahead.

It is very unlikely that Wilamette will show up in mobiles until H2 '01 at the earliest.
