Three possible scenarios:
#1 The power grid goes down BEFORE 1/1/00 because the old dumb chips in the northeast corridor were set wrong to begin with. There is a rush on oil lamps, people are hijacking tankers in the street. Oil of all kinds goes to $30 a quart.

#2 NASDAQ is planning to install 2 million more hamster wheels to run its systems and that right there will drain the international oil reserves in no time. (Those hamster wheels need lots of lubrication)

#3 The Drudge Report reveals that women cannot help themselves and are amazingly attracted to men with lotsa oil in their hair. The "Little Dab will Do Ya" plot, set in motion in the 60's is finally foiled. Hairdressers, barbers, males of all ages hijack oil tankers on land and at sea. The price of sweet crude rockets to $300/barrell.XON replaces MSFT and GE as the biggest cap.
Take your pick :)
I am researching the oils like crazy here. Gimme a little time willya?
