Amsterdam, Nov. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Royal Philips Electronics
NV, Europe's largest consumer-electronics company, and No. 1
personal computer maker Compaq Corp., are in talks on ''ways to
cooperate,'' Dutch newspaper Het Parool reported, citing Compaq
Chief Executive Michael Capellas, who met yesterday with Philips
board member Adri Baan, who head up the company's consumer
electronics division, the newspaper said. ''Cooperation with
Philips seems logical -- we hardly compete in any areas,''
Capellas was quoted as saying. ''We had a very broad
conversation, but you could imagine, for example, joint
activities with Philips' (computer services) unit Origin,'' the
newspaper quoted Capellas as saying.

Philips began a $1.6 billion flat-panel display joint
venture with Korea's LG Group in July, vaulting it into the No. 1
spot in liquid crystal displays.
