Added more shares at 79. Certainly I felt more comfortable
paying low teens for LRCX when it was dirt cheap around
the beginning of this year. However, even at 79, I feel
confident I can make decent bucks. I like current
business environment for LAM. More fab constructions are occurring
but at a constrained rate. This will ensure that we won't
have a overcapacity situation as we did in 96 and 97.
Remember at the peak of last upturn, virtually one new fab
was constructed every week. Current plan for new fab is
far less than this number and this will ensure that the
upturn in the equipment business will last in duration.
In addition, the last upturn was created by one single
driver: proliferation of PC. However, current upcycle
is supported by expansion of the multiple products:
wireless devices, PC, networking device, DVD players,
Home entertainment appliances, ect..Finally we are moving
into new technology for chip equipments. Finer device
feature, larger wafer size, new low K material, ect will
create more opportunities for the equipment vendors to
make money.
