And, just why do you think that I should know you were born in a home for unwed mothers? In any case, glad you made it. I know next to nothing about adoption practices, so, instead of pretending I do, I think I'll wander into the kitchen and see if I can find a tasty snack.

Interesting that you were born in a home for unwed mothers. I worked in one (St. Vincent's) in New Orleans, for a while. Got fired for not toeing the party line, I tried to talk to the girls and get them to see if "surrendering" their child was what they REALLY wanted to do, or if they were merely knuckling under to Mom, Dad, and the rest of the folks, due to the stigma of single motherhood. I probably have a different take, my mother got pregnant when she was 16, but she married my father, who was drafted into the Navy during the Korean War. I love my sisters and brother, but marrying my father was a very dumb thing for my mother to do, they were completely unsuited for each other, and I think it ruined her life. I think she would have been better off if she'd had the guts to go it alone, but I don't blame her for not being able to do that. And I am glad that she didn't abort me, nor give me up for adoption. But I don't judge those who did that, either. IMO, the ability to judge others belongs to God, and humans don't do it well, although sometimes they have no choice.
