<<Bottomline is that we agree...but I'm too scared to short the stock at 50 or 60! Fundamentals and technicals are positive!>>

I have shorted stocks, including ATHM which I adore, with great fundamentals and technicals but only on a short term basis, preferably on an intraday basis. The scary part is when you go short for a longer term you can really get burned if you don't exerise money management. ie take a certain predetermined loss if you have to. I once got totally burned a few years ago with a stock. I shorted on a Friday. There were some rumors of a buyout and the stock rallyed and I shorted into the rally. Toward the end of the day the stock closed on the low end and I had a profit in it. So I thought great let's carry it over the weekend. Monday morning a buyout was announced at something like a 40% premium. My account got pretty trashed to say the least.

But all in all, I wouldn't short ATHM for the longer term at this point.

But shorting is fun too.
