On Thursday, Newbridge is scheduled to hold its quarterly
conference call with analysts and press to review second
quarter 2000 fiscal results. The call will follow an earlier
meeting with staff and employees "to discuss strategic
directions," spokesman Christopher Fox told Reuters.

Massive Layoffs according to Yahoo thread

Also there is a yahoo poster who makes a good case for
a takeover based upon cisco's ceo trash talk.

Ok so how does a new comer play this one,
It is far too risky to bet and I say bet
on a take over....if it happens this week
then it becomes a missed op.....if they
just show up with this massive layoff/re-org
all the buyout money runs the stock down
to 10 or 12 then I am in at a low to no
risk price.

hey Mike

There are company gatherings every quarter at around this time(one already occurred 2-3 weeks ago) I know this from friends who work there and frequently tell me what was discussed. These gatherings however are usually held in the cafeteria and they go in by division because the cafeteria is to small to accommodate them all. They are always attended by TM and Senior Management this will probably include Flynn I know he's been in town since Lutz's departure.

If its true about them busing over to the Corel center than it could easily be a rallying the troops event. I wouldn't expect any major announcements about buyout etc. unless of course there was halt in trading. I find this all very unlikely. The Strategy we're all waiting for will probably be discussed and rumors over Lutzs 'resignation' will be put rest, there are currently 3-4 of them.

TM was on the local radio and although he gave no comments to takeover rumors he didn't rule out layoffs (he avoided answering). This was all over the radio so I don't know if he was listening to that question as it was yelled out, this was at one of the affiliates News conferences and he asked reporters to stay on topic (ie not NN)

I think this will be a great stock but only after a few(maybe more) quarters of meeting estimates (beating them would be better) and increasing US market share. Personally I think this is a mighty tall order but Flynn does have proven experience in this company and he if he could do just half of what's been done under him in Europe, well.....

I never regarded Lutz as a saviour and don't believe his leaving was a the worst thing that could happen, I always viewed him as reigns on TM. I don't subscribe to the idea that because of his departure all our views on NN must change. When he left the products were just as good as before, wireless had the lead it had before (Garunteed by the Stanford deal closing) & the 50 gigabit switch will be ready at the same time as before (the April the delay was announced before Lutz left but the media has only reported it since his departure)

Those who believed in him and only him deserved to loose, they lost sight of what the company does and continues to do, They allowed dislike of TM to invade their rationale. That's not to say that we won't go down after tomorrow evening (I believe we will) but I view it as an opportunity and believe the new management team will pull it together, while still being open to good offers (hear that Ericsson!) for the company which in my opinion are much higher than anything I've heard in the past few weeks.

Really all we can do is sit down and wait.
Good luck to all.

Rhys
