Yup, the eschaton is like the lobby or the opening credits.

All utopian political movements are trying to immanentize the eschaton. And since fallen human nature won't cooperate, the fearless leaders usually end up slaughtering everybody. If you know that perfection isn't achievable in the here and now, you merely try to organize society well enough to keep everyone from committing mayhem, and call that a success.
