Hi HJ:

At the end of trading today, the stocks I track were a sea of red. Given that both the dot and iix set new record highs, the discrepancy puzzled me. So I went to the Street.com site to revisit the dot's composition. If I find time later this am, I will post the specific performance of the dot's stocks, for your interest. For now however, let me just say that nearly half of the dot's stocks I would consider to be has-been inet investments - fine in 1998 perhaps, but not worth serious consideration now.

So what do I consider attractive currently? b2b, comm infrastructure, and ecomm infrastructure, of course. And there appears to have been significant profit taking in those sectors yesterday. Which suggests to me that what donald sew on the mda thread calls Sector Rotation is alive and well within the inets right now. Profits are being taken in the high flyers, at least in the short term.

I am posting this post to you because I am trying to get a better handle on how the b2b sector is performing as a whole. I went over to your b2b thread and saw your post on yesterday's performance of your b2b portfolio:

You may want to consider posting your b2b portfolio in fixed font to improve readability. You can do so by clicking on Use Fixed Font above the Submit button when you post. Given the default font used, it is difficult for me to decipher exactly the performance of the individual stocks. You also suggest in the header that profit taking occurred, but your composite entry at the bottom indicates your portfolio went up yesterday. Please clarify.

HJ or anyone: do you know of any b2b index sponsored by some financial institution or media outfit similar in intent to the dot or iix? I would imagine not, and that is why you put together your b2b portfolio. But I want to double-check.

Finally, you may be wondering why I am posting this to the amzn thread and not the b2b thread. Well, it's kind of like why a satisfied ebay user sticks with ebay rather than switching to amzn auctions. <g> I get a lot of great b2b info right here and don't see much reason to migrate to a different thread for b2b discussions when so many of the folks I want to hear from are here.

However, I should say that I appreciate your putting together your b2b portfolio, and I look forward to responses from you or anyone regarding this post.
