Q3 gold demand up 22% vs year earlier, says World Gold Council
New York--Nov 17--Gold demand continued to grow in the third quarter of
1999, rising 22% from the corresponding period of last year, according to the
World Gold Council. Demand in the countries monitored by the WGC was 877 tonnes,
a third-quarter record and a new all-time high for any 3-month period, and 8%
above the previous peak set in the second quarter of 1999, it said. (Story

Indian gold demand for July-September up 38% on year
Bombay--Nov 18--Gold demand in India, the world's largest market for the
metal, was up 38% in the 3 months to September from the same period last year, a
trade association said Thursday. The London-based World Gold Council said
domestic demand in the 3 months to September was 241 tonnes as against 174.1
tonnes t
