gbh, I tend to agree with you that NN will be putting up ÿitself for sale. You don't gather 3300 employees in an ice rink to tell themÿ they are fired unless you want to be booed out of yourÿ stand. Just not a good location.. You pink slip them.ÿ ( I've never heard before of soon to be fired employeesÿ being told in mass about this which is why I am discounting ÿit ). They may refocus their attention on large ATMs. I think that LU increase in market share is because of sales ÿto smaller CLECs. However I doubt too many big telcos are going to rush in toÿ buy ASND/LU ATMs after the MCI debacle. So NN is going for LU's carotid artery with a big ATM IMHO. I strongly doubt that LU will be able to compete with NN in the large telco ATM inÿ such a brief period of time ( ASNDÿ acquired 1/99. ATMs with Large Telcos require long testingÿ time, 1-2 years? ). I am depending for my investment decision on TMsÿ intelligenceÿ horizon. I think it is good.ÿ If everybody says consolidation is the nameÿ of the game, where will TM pull the info to do otherwise, ÿespecially after the Lutz trial failed. Also, we don't have time for more beta tests. We have time only for 2 more beta tests in this hot telcoÿ market: One is a beta test NNs new 50gb ATM.ÿ The 2nd is beta testing this new switch within a larger ÿvendor that hopefully will have acquired NN. I agree with you. Probably TM will announce that -they are up for sale. -to effect that they are getting ready: ÿa)take care of lawsuit ÿb)fire unneeded employees ÿc)intensify/refocus attention to 50 GB switch to get it outÿ ÿÿ in time with no glitches. ÿd)realign/streamline management, possibly a diet.( there'sÿ ÿÿ always too many chiefs and too few Indians IMHO. Theÿ ÿÿ success of any co hinges more on hiring many good Indians ÿÿ than few gifted Chiefs, also IMHO ). ÿe)look for new partner, do DD and get right price for NN ÿÿ not in a rash but with deliberate consideration. :-).....:-).....:-) TA
