As Curly has pointed out before, it's interesting that the upgrades include an increase in earnings estimate but a hold or decrease in the growth multiple. The growth multiple in this upgrade was 30x.

If we use 45x as noted in the past, the target price would be $90.

Oh well, I will just have to learn to live with these stair-step upgrades. On the positive side, they do extend the life of the party.

Cymer will be a "buy" after they have loaded up on shares. Then the rest of the world can bid up the price...

Why Cymer isn't a "buy" if it is an "absolutely unavoidable, gotta have" technology with a "dominant" technology and market share is beyond me. Guess that just leaves room on the upside when they raise their rating.

"Why Cymer isn't a "buy" if it is an "absolutely unavoidable, gotta have" technology with a "dominant" technology"

When so much is expected of a stock (as Cymer)the chance of it disappointing is quite high. This is the irrational part of the market that no spread sheet can quantify.

Posters wax eloquent with sophisticated ratios, dazzling charts, heavenly projections, spread sheets equipped fog cutting capabilities, and proclaim every two point rise as a gale force wind about to propel this stock into the ionosphere.

Have said all of this I'm going out for a beer.

Have a good week-end,

Jerome
