I seem to remember a post a while back that stated that Korea does not have the capability to roll out the other forms of high speed internet access (cable, DSL, etc.) that are available in the U.S. Is this right?

Doubtful. Check out the new (yesterday) IPO, Korea Thrunet (NAZ: KOREA), which is a broadband Internet provider in Korea with 100,000 customers. Think they provision through both cable and DSL.

At the DI conference, Paul Jacobs said that cable and DSL, while real competition here for HDR, are much, much less so elsewhere in the world. So while some systems may exist, I would guess they are much less widely available (and must be much more expensive to build from scratch).
