American Champion Gets Closer to Buying China Sports Promoter

San Jose, California, Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of American Champion Entertainment
Inc., a children's television producer, rose as much as 15-fold after it said it's getting closer to
buying Great Wall International Sports Media Co., a Chinese sports promoter.

Shares of American Champion rose 1 7/8, or sevenfold, to 2 3/16 in midday trading, after
rising to 4 9/16 earlier, a 52-week high. It was the fourth-most active stock in U.S. trading,
with volume of 20 million shares. The stock's three- month average daily trading volume is
133,982 shares.

American Champion said it's trying to buy controlling interest -- through a stock swap -- in
Great Wall to tap into the commercial sports market in China. Negotiations got a boost
Monday when the Clinton administration agreed with China on terms for the country's entry
into the World Trade Organization, Anthony Chan, president and chief executive of American
Champion Entertainment, said in a statement.

Great Wall, based in Beijing, promotes international sports events and gets revenue through
advertisers, sponsors and broadcast licenses.

San Jose, California-based American Champion Entertainment is a holding company for
American Champion Media Inc., which produces a television program aimed at preschool
and primary school-aged children. It also owns the martial arts school America's Best Karate,
which has two karate studios in the San Francisco area.
