Good stocks for leaps:
Qcom (hey, you are on the board), Broadcom, Sun Microsystems, CMGI, Worldcom, and AOL.

Good luck.

I'm partial to the QCOM ZQI Jan01, 400 [bid/ask of app. $78/$81]; BRCM ZQD Jan01, 180 [bid/ask of app. $49/$51]; NT ZOO Jan01, 80 [bid/ask of app. $17/$18]; and IBM ZIB Jan01, 100 [bid/ask of app. $16/$17].

The NT options and leaps are particularly good [one of Gilder's chosen few] if you are risk averse. I would even go to the 2002 leaps. This canadian stock has a relatively low profile, is under valued [in my opinion] and should generate in excess of 40%+ return.

I am considering buying LEAPS on some stocks. Can you recommend some to me ?

In these situations, I always recommend the venerable firm XYZ. Since it's in nearly 100% of economics texts as a classic "case study", you can be sure it has a large and loyal following. It's almost guaranteed that you won't lose a cent if you invest in it.

Buy any Leaps that you think the company has events between now and expiration that will move the stock strongly ahead. Leaps, as a general rule, cost about one-third the price of the stock so you are basically doing heavy leveraging. Globalstar and Loral are good candidates; they are risky, however.
