Auric: I had an interesting conversation today about BEOS with a S/W Engineering manager at a tier 1 semiconductor house in silicon valley. His particular group focuses on solutions for the set-top box and Internet appliance market. I asked him his thoughts about the Be O/S. In summary, his response was "too little, too late". He felt that unless something drastic was to happen re: the MSFT monopoly ruling, Win CE will eventually be the 800 lb. gorilla in Be's market space. He thought Win CE would be challenged in various markets by the likes of Palm O/S, Java, and Linux. Be was late to the party and he didn't see anything compelling about Stinger. I've been in and out of BEOS on the short side all week. Today I established a core short position and plan to ride this back down to the single digits. That is, if this euphoric market allows me to.
