Truedog,

Not MY words, those were Words of God.

(oh and the words of the song were Jamie Owens-Collins)

But you are correct. All of Private Ryans brothers were killed in battle, but there was a WHOLE WORLD at war around him...

It is certainly interesting to note that although there were Americans fighting in the WW, not ALL were Americans!

truedog,

Yes, it would be interesting to hear Brian try to explain such things as Hope... for is you are a chosen one of God you do not need this... yet it remains... what just for those who it doesn't matter??? Of course that would just be "false hope" which you had no choice to believe in... but I digress into Briandom.

It's also interesting to note that he could not possibly believe any of the Scriptures, only the actual words of God. For in Peter we find this INSPIRING reference to CHOICE.
1PETER
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you,
5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

...bolds doth indicate active verbage, not past tense already acceptable predetermined facts.

ps. or perhaps Peter was simply not enlightened as to the Word Brian?

from C Kahn:

Truedog, I didn't watch "Saving Private Ryan", because I don't like to see killing in movies. But I know the story and appreciate it.

I really like your analogy,

"Private Ryan was saved because a dedicated group of soldiers suffered hardship, and ultimately, death, to see that this young man could be returned to he mother who had already lost far too many sons. Ryan DID NOT FIGHT ALONE!! As long as people like us are around, Jesus will NOT FIGHT ALONE!"

It puts things into a perspective that is badly needed here. Onward Christian Soldiers!!!
