Good points.

My @Home troubles were finally rectified today, after 17 hours of begging. A "Tier 2" Tech, a good one, figured out what they had screwed up and got me going again. They had completely erased my account info and shut down my service, even though every payment had been made on time for two years plus. Go figure.

After holding for 40 minutes to talk to Tier 1, I ended up holding for 1 hour and 15 minutes more for Tier 2. I know this won't be the last time. I have now been the proud owner of no less than 6 of these cable modems, for example.

A local rich family here in CT has announced that they are building a complete, separate cable system for the state that will NOT handle TV at all - just internet access. They are investing 100 million of their own cash to get it started and then going IPO to build the rest. And why? No kidding: because of their personal problems with the speed and reliability of @Home! It was in the paper here last week. The company is named Gemini Communications, I think, and is owned by the Chase family. Article ran in the Hartford Courant last week.
