Re: Newbridge (sym:NN) Q2 2000 CC Notes Thread, Well I listened to most of the CC before being cut off. I suppose most investors will focus on the fact that the company is considering a buyout. I have to say, this sure isn't like a TLAB CC. They are so tight-lipped about details of what is selling. As opposed to TLAB who lays it all out there, good or bad. But I guess if you have the Titan cockaroach making up for R&D slip-ups, then it's easier to be forthcoming. Another strange thing, Terence(NN's CEO) wasn't in attendance. For future reference here are some stats I jotted down. But the key points I gathered was their current strong focus on access technology(Last Mile stuff). LMDS is extremely important, DSL is important. But the future, rides on their 50 Gig machine being sucessful as a replacement for their bread&butter 12 Gig machine, the Mainstreet 36170. As far as DSL, there are a ton of 36170s out there. I'm not sure the significance of this, but they did clearly say the DSL growth is coming from shipping line cards for the 36170s. But this is all mainly Europe from what I gather. What was most frustrating, was their lack of comments as to what they plan to offer SBC's Project Pronto. I have no idea why they have to be so tight lipped about it. And I have no idea how to read it.
