i don't understand it either. maybe it's to help some big funds to unwind positions, who knows....something might be lurking we know nothing about. note all the Y2K propaganda claiming that everything is alright. and yet, one hears rumblings in the background, recently a utility executive supposedly said that 3 weeks of 60% brownouts and blackouts would be considered a wild success by him. see also the article on oil. perhaps Y2K will be much worse than expected and he figures we better fall from greater heights.
truth is i have no idea what the rationale behind inflating the bubble further is. i don't think there really is one beyond the fear that it might suddenly pop and the Fed may be blamed for popping it and lose some of it's powers.

ROTF...Do you remember the weakness we had in the market a few weeks ago. (I know it's tough, but try). That's when Easy Al was draining. Either he drains and we go down or he pumps and we go up. No in between. So, the next time he drains, everyone here goes short and we become rich, get it??? -s-

The stock market could at least tread water absent some major calamity. He seems to want to inflate it further. I just don't understand.

MM, I think that's a question for SSE. Those superheros all think alike; he'll know. <g>
