Mani ,"Could it be that you do not really understand the market dynamics and are blowing smokes?"

I don't know how much of a threat that VIA will be to Intel but Intel is in a much better position to fight off competition than AMD because AMD is financially weak. Have you looked at AMD's Balance Sheet lately? You should.

As far as understanding market dynamics is concerned, I have had savvy enough to stay clear of AMD.

Mani, It seems to me that the Via group will be vertically integrated to a higher degree than AMD and thus will indeed be a threat at the low end with their all in one products. I do not know how fast their CPUs will operate, but it looks like they will not attack AMD and Intel at the 500 and higher level for at least another 12-18 months, by which time they will have gone even higher, so they are in the same stern chase that AMD was in until they made a leap with the Athlon. Via does not have a leap in them right now, just gradual optimisation of the ashes of Cyrix, however they may be able to fill huge numbers of low end boxes for countries with fewer dollars to spend.
