I doubt very seriously that we'll ever see an open source version of Win anything. It isn't viable. What firm would invest the capital into hiring, learning curve etc.,?

Moving Win32 into an open source mode would be tantamount to stripping MS of a piece property. The government can't force this to happen, and I doubt seriously that it is in anyone's best interest.

The government could force a divestiture/break-up of MS into tinier operating companies. This may be in the best interest of the consumer. It may be in the best interest of the shareholder.

The thought of all those little internet properties coming to market is compelling.

CW: You,Charles and King Tutt should start your own thread and call it something like "Double Speak" or " CPU Bizzaro". I have never heard such mindless stuff in my life. JFD

CW: You,Charles and King Tutt should start your own thread and call it something like "Double Speak" or " CPU Bizzaro". Lacking the imagination to start your own thread you might join MSFT Internet Explorer vs. NSCP Navigator, they have got a lot of this anti-MSFT rhetoric over there.JFD
