Well, you bring up a number of interesting points, but specifically on this "high switching costs" issue... I would say arba, cmrc, etc. have about the same switching costs as any (successful) ERP implementation - which means nobody will ever switch if they turn the thing on successfully. Its just too big of a deal to hook your supply chain up to one of these e-vendor networks, chances are customers are going to add custom code etc.

Your other point about i2 vs. cmrc vs. arba is valid... i2 is a formidable competitor and is already online in a lot of places, however they are still software that needs to be installed vs. the cmrc outsourced model... therefore they won't be able to grow quickly enough I'll bet.
