It seems late in the game for Intel to attack the CO side of the market. It has already progressed to multiport IC's or programmable IC's to win new business. On the premise side, it is not clear to me whether Intel plans to dabble in a software-based dsl modem or a chipset.

It will be interesting to see if/ when line sharing opens the market up. At this point it is nothing but hype to me. The RBOC's will need to put in some sort of front end infrastructure to be able to pass off a high-frequency data pair to the CLEC. Who the hell knows what this equipment is at this point. I am certain that the RBOCs will drag their feet. Look how long it has taken them to get DSLAMs in.
