Nasdaq stocks ruled by the lunatics

NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Been to Nasdaq lately? It's right down the block from the New York Stock Exchange. The way its electronic scoreboard twitches on each tick -- makes you realize the lunatics are in charge of the U.S. stock market. These are capital times for capital flows. Lunatics, after all, contribute to liquidity. In saner times, lunatic investors are known as speculators. These days, maybe because your buttoned-down Wall Street types are a little jealous of the spectacular (almost 50 percent) return coming from the Nasdaq Composite Index this year ($COMPQ: news, msgs), individual investors, many of them with online trading accounts, are no longer speculators. They're lunatics.
