unclewest,

Thanks for the info. I look forward to reading it all in depth. Please continue your sharing of info. Invaluble to me, and much appreciated!

I have a position in Cree that I've had for a while and would like to be able to increase at some point. Obviously sooner rather than later. I, too, am excited about the prospects of this company and silicon carbide.

Thanks again.

regards,

MCO

>>cree's ceo says the potential uses for SiC are endless...he is concentrating on the
most lucrative.

approx 50% of cree's production presently goes to light emitting diodes (leds). this
market is exploding. cree has recently improved brightness 4x. the competition
here is sapphire based leds. although brighter, sapphire based are 2x more
expensive. cost is a huge factor, and cree's are bright enough for most apps. cree
expects to completely close the brightness gap next year. because SiC is
conductive it offers other significant advantages over sapphire.<<

unclewest,

Would you mind posting, if you know, some everyday potential applications for SIC's? I want to understand just what exactly the potential market is.....

Thanks,

bp

Please tell me it's not in those awful new automobile headlamps I'm beginning to see that are so obnoxious. <g>
