<<Why not?>> My understanding is that the shares are restricted for a year from the date of issue and can not be traded during that time. Not sure if the warrants are also restricted or not.

Also my shares are in an IRA, in street name, so that as you say, it could take months before we actually see them show up in our accounts. Wonder if the restriction start date is 11/16/1999 or when we actually get the shares posted to our accounts? Or maybe the restriction start date was 10/1/1998. (VVVBG)

Richard, one of the standard procedures in every data processing application that involves "who owned what and when" is a daily post-processing backup that goes to either archive or microfilm or both. They'll load the MXAM shareholder records on 10/01/98 from that archive and take a "snapshot" and voila', The List. The rest of the process consists of "... just doing it".
