even more 3. A Ticket to Profits Online (TMCS) Ticketmaster Online Citysearch (TMCS) looks like it may survive beyond the IPO romance phase and become a thriving, profitable business, according to Mark Cavallone of S&P's The Outlook. Ticketmaster Online and Citysearch merged in 1998, and the combined company runs a family of websites that offer localized city guides, ticketing for events, advertising and e-commerce services. Stock in Ticketmaster Online Citysearch (TMCS) exploded fivefold from its December 1998 IPO price at $14, but it took a dive on news of merger plans with USA Network's Lycos portal. If that wasn't enough, shares fell even further when Lycos shareholders killed the deal. But Cavallone sees signs of life. Ticketmaster Online Citysearch just chalked up an impressive Q3 with revenues growing 141%. The company also inked a deal to acquire Microsoft's Sidewalk entertainment guide and plans to introduce its city guide sites on MSN Network and WebTV in the next two months. In addition, Ticketmaster Online Citysearch aims to beef up its city guides to serve over 3,000 communities, making theirs the only nationwide guides. As such, analysts now rate Ticketmaster as the number four US online retailer to home web users. Cavallone notes that the company's revenue streams more than doubled this year and should continue to see "sharp increases over the next several years." These revenue streams include ticketing fees, local and national advertising, and city guide sponsorships. Cavallone also predicts the company's losses will abate in 2000 and move quickly to profitability. "Aggressive investors seeking superior appreciation can buy this volatile stock," he says.
