Oh my God, is it? I hadn't been tracking on it....I believe, in my heart, that the Civil War was a judgment of God upon the nation, to purge it of the iniquity of slavery. It was avoidable, had the nation repented in time, but it was not avoided. I also admit that although I like Southerners well enough, I have a problem with the South, and the propensity to defend the secession, or to pretend that it was as much the North's fault, or that it was not about slavery. Thank God that Lincoln was determined to save the Union, and that he found his general in Grant. I believe that the Gettysburg Address is not only a marvel of rhetorical brevity, but a sacred document, to be revered along with the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.....
