On CNBC this morning, Renee (San Migel--however you spell his name) was back from COMDEX but still reporting on what he saw. He mentioned that flash cards as a big deal (much to my delight) and showed someone pulling a flash card out of an Olympus camera (Olympus branded) and another device with "SmartMedia" labeled next to the slot. Oh well.

And who does he mention as someone to benefit from the booming flash card market? Micron!? They don't even make flash cards (and not all that much flash, just low-capacity boot block stuff). Arggg. This guy never fails to amaze me with his lack of technical knowledge (considering it is his job). . .

Oh, looks like I lied! I went to the Micron website, and they DO make flash cards (or soon will), and they are CompactFlash. They are also a member of the CompactFlash Association, which is somewhat pleasing to me in the light of Sony's recent press.
