TIBCO Software and Ariba Combine Forces to Deliver Business-To-Business
E-Commerce Solutions
TIBCO to Provide Real-Time Integration for Ariba eCommerce Solution and
ERP Systems From SAP, Oracle, and PeopleSoft

TIBCO Software (Nasdaq: TIBX - news), a leading provider of real-time
infrastructure software for the Internet and enterprise, and Ariba, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ARBA - news), the leader in business-to-business eCommerce
solutions, today jointly announced a global technology alliance that
will provide customers with best-of-breed, real-time integration between
their Ariba© eCommerce platform and their existing IT infrastructures.
Under the multi-year agreement, Ariba will integrate and exclusively
resell as its prime integration solution TIBCO's real-time
infrastructure software, as a key element for linking the Ariba
eCommerce solution with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software from
SAP, Oracle, and PeopleSoft. The combined solution extends Ariba's
existing ERP integration and provides business buyers with best-of-breed
connectivity between their Ariba eCommerce platforms and internal
processes managed by ERP systems, such as human resources and
accounting.

Ariba eCommerce solutions allow organizations to electronically capture
and direct employee purchases -- from IT equipment and printing services
to chemicals and machine tool parts -- over the Web to preferred
suppliers on the Ariba Network(TM) platform. Using Ariba buyer
enablement solutions, including the Ariba ORMS(TM) eCommerce application
and its hosted version, the Ariba ORMX(TM) application, individual
employees use a consistent intranet-based user interface to obtain
detailed product information on-line, quickly create purchase requests,
route requests through an organization's pre-defined approval cycle,
place orders, and make electronic payments.
Under the agreement, the Ariba ORMS and ORMX applications will use
TIBCO's TIB/ActiveEnterprise(TM) software to provide highly scalable,
distributed real-time integration with ERP systems from SAP, Oracle, and
PeopleSoft. Ariba will integrate and resell Integration Packs, which
include TIBCO TIB/ActiveEnterprise software components as well as
adapters for connecting ERP systems to Ariba solutions. In addition,
TIBCO and Ariba have agreed to jointly develop tools that allow existing
Ariba customers to migrate to the new ERP integration technology and
joint ongoing development, testing, training, sales, and marketing
activities worldwide.
The TIBCO Integration Packs are expected to be integrated and bundled
with Ariba eCommerce solutions beginning Q2 2000.
