DRIP is for Dividend Re-Investment Program. You can apply to it by registering your shares to your name. MAT's DRIP is not the best I have seen however. The company charges a $5 service fee when you make a cash investment. Many companies won't charge a penny. I make $500 investments to overcome this fee (it's down to 1% then...), but I find it a little expensive. What's fun with the DRIPs, IMO, is when you can make small cash investments each months... and bigger ones when the stock is down. This way it really amounts to sizeable numbers after a few years...

I am intrigued that you got the microscope. I have a dozen on "backorder" with no ETA in sight. Makes one wonder if MAT is cornering the market with direct sales on this one.

Additionally, my cost is $ 117 through a computer distributor. You bought yours for under $ 100?

If this is so, lease me to the web site and I will order directly from there.
