Wrong John. Which proves an earlier point that I made.

John,

You're right, I do know. And I know that the statement
"They claimed that MSFT violated the license by making
it better for MSFT O/S users" is patently false, and
I'll bet YOU know that it is patently false.

The phrase "making it better for MSFT O/S users" is a
cute spin for your point of view but the "making it
better" part entailed illegally changing copyrighted
and trademarked code to MAKE it incompatible ("improving it")
with the original Java.

That's why MSFT LOST IN COURT. They blatantly violated
SUNW's IP copyrights and trademark. The only concession
they received from the judge was that they are free to
make their own "clean room" Java. As long as it is significantly
different from Sun's Java source it can do the same thing
functionally.

So, why didn't Gates do that from the beginning???? No
one was stopping him from developing a "better Java than
Java" on his own. HWP had Java-like products in the works
3 or 4 years ago & they could have joined forces to shore
up the PC market for internet languages without involving
SUNW at all.

Did Gates figure he could get away with stealing SUNW's IP
right out from under it and NOT suffer the consequences???

Perhaps, John, you can answer that for me without resorting
to personal attacks on my ideas or character.
