Mike, what HLIT IR told you about the AT&T SEC filing "in essence" is right, but the details are wrong. While is it is correct that this quiet period will have no affect on HLIT's network build out plans, that is because it does not affect purchases or deliveries of equipment types that are already approved and being installed the HFC networks.

I have it from reliable sources within AT&T that in fact the quiet period does apply to the cable ABIS portion of the company. You cannot update or upgrade to new software releases or introduce new versions of hardware into the network between 12/1 and 1/15. That's for telco or cable.

So as long as you maintain the status quo on your software release and hardware/firmware version of equipment, everything is cool with AT&T and nothing is affected as a supplier to them. Business as usual if you're not trying to upgrade anything.

I know it's a nitpick, but an important distinction if you are a supplier with maintenance software releases to install. Imagine the panic and chaos that would ensue if your cable network had a major outage around New Year's if a revised version of software had a Y2K bug in it. Football playoffs, college bowl games, hockey games, WWF, Martha Stewart, and Baywatch all gone with everyone at home during the holidays. Not a pretty picture at all.
