Did crude actually spike almost to $30 at some point today (as the high on CNN commodities shows)?

Hi George, your observation is trenchant. On the most recent OSX rise a clear and definable technical bottom was put in. Most OS stocks vaulted over their 50 and 200 dma's with the 50 days concluding their down trends. Most short term studies are in overbought territory and issuing short term sells.

It is quite common for the initial move to correct back to the 50 day as it begins it's lagged ascent. When the sto's generate a buy signal imo, that, would be a good place to add to or re enter positions. Actually my downside target (short term (10 - 20 trading days max)) is a tad lower than yours, say 76-78. It is my plan to use the selling to add the driller and get set up for rally that will be at least as powerful as the spring rally. I believe it will be a rally in which ALL sectors of the OS universe will participate. I believe the smaller caps will have greater percentage gains which is why I am positioned there.

BTW, have you noticed that the oil bears are becoming less and less effective in their spin wrt oil prices?
